- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups warm milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped scallions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the melted butter and warm milk, and mix until the dough comes together.
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes, then let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Add the beaten egg, cheese, bacon, and scallions to the dough, and knead for an additional 5 minutes.
- Form the dough into a ball, and place it in a greased bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Transfer the dough to a greased loaf pan, and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let the bread cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
